A Little Schubert
If you like a great melody, but don’t particularly care for the quasi-operatic style of singing common to classically trained vocalists, take a listen to Songs Without Words by Mischa Maisky and Daria Hovora, on which a group of Schubert’s songs are played on cello and piano, rather than piano and voice. My favorites are probably “Am Meer” and “Nacht und Träume”.
