Mellon Park, Pittsburgh
I like the formal part of the gardens in Mellon Park. On a warm day like today, the smell of box and yew is heady, and the space is quiet. The garden is tended but not overgroomed – plenty of room for imagination to play among the old stone urns and arborvitae. I was visited by a chipmunk, twice, and a pair of walkers passed through. Towards the end of my time there I heard children laughing and running on their way home from school, but I didn’t see them. In a novel the children would be ghosts, I suppose, but they sounded real to me.

I love the addition of your art to “Clusterflock”. Thank you.
When I lived in Pittsburgh in the early 1980′s I used to walk to Mellon Park and read or write stories there. I remember feeling at peace there. I wrote a short story about the park, and ghosts that may be there.
Thank you for sharing your drawing.
