Your newest Flocker: John Buaas
Greetings, all, from a newbie.
(In case you’re wondering, it rhymes with “Lewis”)
You have fellow Flocker Andrew Simone and his blog to thank or blame for leading me to Clusterflock in the first place. He’s also been gracious/foolish enough to post links here to some posts of mine from my humble blog. So, somewhere along the line I got the idea, and Deron seems to agree, that I might be able to contribute a bit more directly to this fine group blog.
A little about me: I am a native Texan presently living in Wichita, Kansas. I have a doctorate in English and teach English at a community college in Wichita. I’m an occasional host of the Kansas Guild of Bloggers’ weekly Carnival. Like every other blogger, I write about things that interests me; in my case, that happens to be music, art, books, film, ideas from all over, some politics, some religion, and things I think about while I walk my dog.
As for what I’ll be posting here at Clusterflock? Well: By your posts ye shall know them. All I can say for sure right now is that Elvis’s sincerest hope is also my own: I just hope not to bore you.

Welcome . . . from the woman who . . . eh . . . posted a photograph of a dead kitten garbed as an ice princess.
A most sincere welcome. Really and truly.
There is some strange connection between this blog a Texans. I am not sure what it is…
To both of you: thanks much.
Andrew: just out of curiosity, who are the other Texans?
If it matters to anyone, I was born in Austin.
I was going to say the same thing.
Amy and I are in Dallas. Renner is in El Paso. Daryl and Cindy are in Dallas. Lynn is in Telephone. Mark is in San Antonio. (Did I miss anyone?)
Where were you from, John?
Deron,
Apologies in not getting my comment approved before you posted yours.
But yes: born in Austin, where my mother still lives; all my formal education in Texas; but have never worked in my profession in Texas. I suppose I really am a Texan, seeing as, whenever someone asks me where I’m from, I feel compelled to preface by saying, “Well, I’m originally from Texas . . . “
I think all of us (Texans) can relate to that.
Aaron is from Houston, incidentally, as is Barry.
I fled (Dallas) when I was twenty-one and never paused to look back.
