    The question I should have posed was: Is this an act of Orson Wellesian cinematic sleight of hand, or just another director ‘manipulating’ himself, though in this case with the use of his feet.

    This is pretty H for Harsh. I vote C for Clever - let’s reserve the sixth letter of the alphabet for things of WMD’s-in-Iraq scale.
