Oh, heck, it’s not all that obscure
Remember we’re talking pop music here. First the easy one:
You’ve got a home
As long as I’ve got mine
Now the more obscure one. Will anyone know it without using an Internet search engine?
When I was born the midwife scream and shout
I had fire and brimstone coming out of my mouth

Looks like the of should be removed from the final line….
My memory plays tricks on me, to be sure, but I believe he (there’s a hint) sings, “out of” or maybe “outa my mouth” (more closely mout’, another little bitty hint).
I would have to cheat to get either of these.
What is odd (or perhaps typical) is that I am stumped not by the second but the first!
(By the way, Old Obscurity, at some time in the past year or so did you not tell me of a dream you had concerning ______ [The ______ ______ ]? As I recall, the identities of ______ and Ivor Cutler had somehow [dream-fashion] become confused one with the other!)
Sheila! You clearly know the second, so go right ahead and make the revelation. But I can’t remember having a dream–what a grand dream that would be, though.
Okay, here’s the giveaway clue on the first one: Blind Al.
Okay, here it is, straight from the mouth (or mout’) of Sheila the Revelator: Exuma, “The Obeah Man”!
As I recall, in Renner’s dream somehow or other Ivor Cutler was “The Obeah Man”. And now that I come to think of it, imagine Ivor Cutler singing “The Obeah Man” in the manner of his contribution to Wyatt’s “Little Red Robin Hood Hit the Road”!
Now the ‘Blind Al’ clue only gets me halfway because I really don’t know (or recall) ‘their’ songs very well, so someone else will have to jump in here.
. . . while I rummage around to see whether I saved the email message wherein Renner recounted his dream!
It’s “Going Up the Country”, Canned Heat.
Egg on my face. I do recall “Going Up the Country”, of course, but for some reason just could not place the quoted lyric within the song. Maybe I’m just hearing it with made-up lyrics of my own.
