Cute.

Juked just rejected four of my poems because they were too “cute.”
Have people been saying this kind of thing behind my back? I need to know.

    If “cute” means “clever” and “accessible”, then I wish my poetry was cuter.

    At least Juked gave you an opinion–I’ve only gotten a bland thanks-but-no-thanks from them, and many others.

    Cooper is the first editor who showed any interest in helping me improve my poetry by telling me what he thought worked and what didn’t.

    You can’t connect with every reader–and that includes editors–but someone somewhere will appreciate well-crafted work if you just keep sending it out. Screw them other bums.
