Sol Factor’s 17 Year Search
The letter brought a bittersweet end to Sol Factor’s 17-year search for his mother, a Holocaust survivor who disappeared in the aftermath of World War II:
“We regret to inform you that we located the above mentioned person, but she would not like to be contacted by the inquirer,” reads the message from Magen David Adom, the Israeli counterpart of the American Red Cross.

Hi Sol, Read about your quest to find your Mother. Sol I use to live near you back in Belmont. Bill Romeo also. Drop a line if you get a chance.
I too was abandoned by my mother, at age two when she divorced my father, won custody of me, but relinquished custody to a known violent person and abuser. Thruout my life I always wonder shy she did this, but never found an answer.
I wish you much success in attempting to get her to change her mind. If you need help, I have a Rabbi friend who travels to Israel often and may be of help to you.
In the meantime, I will pray for you and wish you the very best.
