Interviewing Apes

The Great Ape Trust in Des Moines, Iowa, is home to seven bonobos — a close relative of the chimpanzee — and three orangutans. But if you think Iowa might be a strange place for them to live, don’t say it out loud … these apes understand English.

They probably think Iowa is strange place for them to live.

Even stranger (and I agree, Cindy, Iowa is strange), and disappointing, was that there was so little in the article of what that apes actually want to say to us, and so much of what we think and feel about it all. The article was mostly about us. I want to know how apes think, at this juncture, not humans.
