Not to Talk About the Weather, but

For those of you in The Great State. Just want to take a moment to send my positive thoughts to those who’ve been deluged for so long. Let it be done!

It’s rained in KC, slowly, steadily since Wednesday night. We’re on the very Northern edge of this stalled front. I keep thinking it must move on soon.

After only three days, here, I can’t imagine what it’s been like for some of you.

it feels like it’s rained everyday at some point for the past two months.

I think our normal year-to-date here in Dallas is about 18 inches, and we are at 32 now. It really sinks in to me when I consider that I have not yet turned on a water sprinkler all year! I have lived here for many years and I don’t remember that ever happening.

Amy and I planted a new garden last weekend and except for the initial watering I’ve simply disconnected the hose.

I love the rain. This is the best summer (weather-wise) I’ve ever had. If I thought it would stay like this, I’d plan to live here forever. But this is likely the last wet year Texas will have; after this, it will be unbearably hot and dry and dead. And that’s my glass half full prediction.

I was just thinking the same thing.
