The rate plans for the iPhone
They are a hell of a lot more reasonable than I thought they would be.
And while I’m at it, we have enough for five phones with a little left over at this point. Participation ends in 40 minutes.

whoa. those plans ARE reasonable. I was getting scared that I might win one and have to sell my organs to pay for the plan. Now? not so much.
I’m already an att wireless customer and was thinking I’d have to shell out 40 a month for the data plan. it’s twenty bucks.
it seems like this was the last piece of the puzzle and they got it right. now, even if the network is a little slow and the virtual keyboard is a little futzy, people will be more forgiving. and, of course, a much wider user group will be able to afford one after the initial investment. but hey, $500 for a computer that fits in your pocket isn’t bad.
If you about it, Verizon Wireless’ the 700 family plan costs $10 less than the iPhone 700 Family Plan… but Verizon doesn’t give you unlimited data and 200 SMS… Plus, the iPhone will have it’s manufacturer’s specific UI, if you know what I mean.
I know what you mean.
Well, I’m currently on the second cheapest T-Mobile plan, so the lowest AT&T rate would more than double my monthly bill, when you add in the taxes. But I could cancel my land line, which I hardly ever use. Probably the last twenty calls to my house have been wrong numbers, anyway.
when you think about unlimited data — i.e. internet anywhere — and your music and your movies and your email and your calendar and well you get the idea.
Now… will I be able to use my Bluetooth/WiFi to access the web with my laptop via the iPhone? That’s interesting because then people would even be able to ditch their Evil ISP? =)
I feel dizzy.

The idea: My life would be pretty much over.
now… has any of you used the EDGE network?
I have read quite a few iPhone reviews, and seems to be it’s weakest point…
And it is kinda sad because it is one of the key selling points.
Thoughts anyone?
I totally agree, Mau. It is the most disappointing aspect. I am counting on the wi-fi part to help make up for it and realizing I will be buying a new phone when att upgrades their network.
The reviews I’ve read say the first iPhone won’t be able to work on the new network.
So, yes, one of the main reasons I’ll be buying the phone will be crippled by att’s network, but to reiterate, I’ll be counting on wi-fi and the next iteration.
bittersweet.
