Jerry Lewis and Rob Zombie Team Up for 2008 Telethon

Jerry Lewis and Rob Zombie – a match made in hell
Las Vegas, NV — Immediately following the close of a record $63.8 million 2007 MDA Telethon, entertainer Jerry Lewis and heavy metal guitarist-turned film director Rob Zombie jointly announced their intention to collaborate on producing the 2008 charity event. The duo revealed their plans at a news conference set up at the South Point Hotel, Casino & Spa in Las Vegas, just outside the resort’s 64-lane bowling center.
“I have been fascinated by Jerry’s genius ever since I was a kid, but he has only recently evolved into the kind of performer with whom I can truly partner,” said Zombie. “The kind of edginess he showed at his most recent Telethon, spewing phrases like ‘illiterate faggot’, demonstrates the same raw talent that made him #1 in France.”
Mr. Zombie, famous for popular songs like “Living Dead Girl” and “Superbeast”, achieved critical acclaim for his direction of the recent motion pictures House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil’s Rejects, as well as his current release Halloween.
Seasoned professional Lewis beamed with admiration while the former “White Zombie” guitarist spoke, the 81-year-old’s only response: “God, I love this long-haired tattooed freak!”
A rough cut was shown of a “scene in progress” depicting exploitation film veteran Sybil Danning cast as a Telethon phone volunteer, the camera pulling back to reveal Lewis — in his hilarious Nutty Professor character – coming up from behind and using a telephone handset to beat the actress’ head to pulp.
At the end of the clip, veteran entertainer Lewis remarked to reporters, “Was it special effects or real? Come back next year and find out. Now get the hell outta here!”
