Is it a hole or an entryway? Remember that old episode of Adventures of Superman in which the strange hominids came up from the depths of the earth via oil wells?

Oh, I do believe it is an entryway — and perhaps an exit as well.

    Cooper!
I remember that episode! The images of it (them? wasn’t it “continued” to another episode?) still haunt me today. We were kids when we first saw, on what must have been a snowy, small, black and white screen, though in memory the image is clear as a bell. What I can’t recall? The plot as it played out, I remember one of the creatures was injured, Superman carried him…somewhere. They had some kind of ray-gun, it took at least two of them to support and aim. At one point Superman stood in the way of the blast to protect…someone. I have a vague memory of Superman sealing the entry in some way at the end. (To forever separate us from the (were they?) peace loving individuals who meant us no harm, who ray-gunned in self-defense, but whom the human race wasn’t ready to meet? Do you recall the story?
