Cooper, until those Indiana people come clean on what the heck a Hoosier is, I'm steering clear of the whole state. I suspect John Cougar Mellenhoosier is their leader, encouraging and nurturing their odd Hoosier ways. If I have business in Illinois for some reason, I plan to go around.

Rick, I'm not into the horse show scene, but that's mostly due to lack of opportunity. Morgan horse people spend a lot of time on Morgan chat lists, so maybe I've shared time in the Internets with the Kelce's! It is a small world indeed!

Besides training, riding, pampering, and financing our Morgan, I work for the breed by producing ads and marketing materials for various breeders and clubs. My focus is primarily the old-blooded Morgans who trace most directly to Justin Morgan, the original. I'm one of the founders of the Ancient Morgan Archive, which is a fledgling non-profit whose objective is to preserve items of historical significance and educate interested parties about the contemporary relevance of the breed.

As your partner's family can testify, it can be difficult to get a decent picture of a precocious 1,000 lb. equine that spots a camera and thinks his job is to stick his nose in the lens. I wish I had a dollar for every nostril shot.

Nice to see you Kathy. My partner's sister and family are Morgan horse people. A couple of the daughters were National or World Champions for riding(or something like that?) One daughter runs a horse training facility in Rockton, IL or Beloit, WI. Have you ever heard of the Kelce's (Gail, Becky, Holly?) from that area? (It would be astonishing to find the world is that small.)
