46 Down, 2 to Go

From time out of mind, I’ve been telling folks that I’ve visited forty-five of the forty-eight contiguous United States. And it’s true. But as truths go, it’s stale. A decade – more – has passed since I bagged Nevada and Arizona. And all that remained were the Dakotas, North and South, and Washington.

So there we were in Astoria, Oregon, and there was just this bridge between me and Washington. I’d have been a fool not to. And I’m no fool. So as of Monday, November 19, 2007, it’s forty-six down, two to go.

Mileage from my home in Galena, Illinois to Sioux Falls, South Dakota? Just over four hundred.

    Is it not right — aesthetically — that My Last State will in all likelihood be North Dakota?
