Rest in Peace, My Friend
It is with sadness I note the passing of my friend Chris Horne. He and I worked together running wilderness trips at a camp in Virginia in my mid twenties. Our lives had moved in different directions and we hadn’t seen each other since a week-long backpacking trip in the Wind Rivers probably ten years ago, but he was one of the most decent, caring, humorous, and loving people I have met. This article in The Chattanoogan captures nicely the essence of him. He was a good man.

I’m so sorry for your loss Deron. Seems like Chris was a good guy.
Makes me further appreciate every day we have.
I need to go now, I have something in my eye.
I agree, Patrick. He was a good person, a loving person, and it certainly serves as a reminder to appreciate and embrace the time we have here. Thank you.
Oh, Deron, I’m so sorry. It seems as if Chris led a great life.
Deron. I miss you. Get in touch. We have a lot to discuss. Peace and noise.
Deron-
I am the parent of a student at Summit, where Chris was at the beginning of a great journey. He will be missed by the entire community. I had encounters with him a few times a week while at the school and he was always so energetic and touched everyone he encountered.
Stuart, I love you man.
Deron - what a terrible loss! As I wrote to Peter, Chris was a sweet generous funny as hell dude and I will miss him.
Deron–
Sorry for your loss. To echo the thoughts of others, it seems like your friend Chris was a pretty nice guy. My thoughts go out to his wife, family and friends.
vin.
Very sad indeed. Clearly he valued life and lived his well, and it sounds as though he had just embarked on a new chapter, what with his marriage and the new position. It’s such a shock when someone so apparently full of energy is suddenly — gone. My thoughts (and my thanks for the post) go out to you, Deron.
