Garlands for a New Year

These leis appeared last week at Elizabeth Perry’s woolgathering, and I just had to make sure that you saw them. They look calligraphic to my eyes.

    Oh, I am glad that you like it. It looks to me like an inscription in some ‘top-to-bottom’ (rather than ’side-to-side’) writing. Whatever it may be, it is beautiful, yes?

    The way the light hit those silk leis was beautiful - and the scent from the real flowers in the case which is not in the picture… ah…

    So I painted and listened to two people speaking in Hawai’ian to each other and waited for the second of my three flights back home.
