It must have been her last performance tour; she moved scarcely at all, having recently tumbled off a stage somewhere and broken a leg. But she was wonderful -- displayed a deliciously dry wit. Have any of y'all seen Maximillian Schell's wonderful documentary <a href="http://www.marlenedietrich.org/filmMarlene.htm" rel="nofollow">Marlene</a>? It's a splendid example of how an artist (director Schell) can deal with limitations -- at the eleventh hour, Dietrich refused to be filmed! Oh . . . and for the record, I want an outfit like Dietrich's <em>Destry</em> get-up in the worst possible way. Anyways, meet you down at the end of the bar, boys (and all of y'all). And neat bourbon will be just dandy, Andrew.
