Designing an End to Poverty
I haven’t posted anyting since I started my new job, but finally I found something relevant to post on clusterflock, this interview with Jeffrey Sachs in Design 21. From a web design point of view, I’ve been tasked with refreshing the www.millenniumpromise.org site. Any clusterflocky feedback?

my first impression of the site, from a design perspective, look and feel, etc. I like it a lot.
from a usability perspective, the site loads very slowly and hangs when I click links and seems to be very labor intensive in getting pages to appear. I’d probably focus on that, as opposed to the design aspect, at least initially.
thanks for the feedback. The design right now is what I’ve inherited. I’ve also inherited the hosting and back end technology which is provided by Convio and is a bit clugey, so probably not much I can do about page loading besides getting rid of or minimizing the flash and graphics. Should be a fun project though, and actually to a good cause unlike everytihng else I’ve done!
yep, I bet it’s a flash / graphics issue. cleaning that up would probably take care of it.
and congratulations! it sounds like a great project.
What a great job, Derek–congratulations. Isn’t it great to make a living doing something that matters?
thanks. Incidentally the reason i was on the design 21 site is because we are launching a design contest around the millennium development goals, so stay tuned for that ye clusterflockians.
The only think that disconcerts me a little is the blank space underneath “Malaria No More” box on the right. Perhaps space out those three boxes a little more?
that blank space will go away for sure, and that right nav will be shifted to the left
