It had a little strainer at the top to catch the solids. I believe I've mentioned the list of White Trash lines Daryl and I developed a few years ago ("This squirrel's gristley.") Here's another good one: "Is this bacon grease or Miracle Whip?" Time was I lusted after bacon drippin's. Though I grew up in Texas, my parents were transplanted Connecticut Yankees, and not so much as one morsel of food was ever fried in our kitchen.
