World Famous Combs
On a shelf in a little store in my part of the world sit two plastic tubs, each filled with plastic combs. Taped onto one of the tubs is a sign bearing the legend:
EDDIE’S COMBS | “World Famous Combs” | GUARANTEED | EXTRA STRENGTH | 69¢ | UNBREAKABLE

this reminds me of a story about the telluride blue grass festival many years ago in which a vendor sold clay marijuana pipes he pronounced ‘unbreakable’.
in fact, if you could break it, it was yours.
a friend at the time grabbed one, threw it as hard as he could against the pavement, and when it broke, proudly collected his prize: the broken clay marijuana pipe.
There’s one born every minute.
