I would imagine that a large part of that fee was for discretion rather than more, um, tangible services. I’d ask for a refund if I were Spitz.
That’s still math challenged. $5500 * 24 = 132000. I guess you don’t get them for the full 24 hours?

J. Elliot, Amy and I talked about it and felt the $31,000 from an old 401k would be well spent. I assure you, I used appropriate protection, to the point of even wrapping myself in saran wrap. While that did somewhat lessen the physical sensations, I still feel it was worth it. I hope my constituents see it the same way.
In response to J. Eliot, a major thing one can be assured of when patronizing an ultra-high class “escort” arrangement is that the women involved are disease-free, and indeed, live a generally healthy life-style re: exercise, diet, and moderation/abstinence from substances…
in particular, they are tested for diseases frequently, and are randomly tested for substance abuse…
this is a MAJOR part of the “premium” paid for such a service…
I’m dissapointed in Elliot Spitzer as a governor and wouldn’t mind if he resigns or is removed from office. but not because he did business with a prostitute. That is his persoanal business. It’s between him and his family.
The Governor did not physically injure anyone, commit fraud or deprive them of their property. There was no real crime, only a manufactured crime. One created by people like himself. His problem stems from the holier than though religious extremists and politicians like himself, they cannot mind their own business. They insist on exercising power over others and controlling lives by passing legislation based on their religious beliefs and views on morality. They make themselves feel superior by taking away the right of others to make free choices. They can’t be satisfied to live and let live. They condemn those who don’t agree with them.
Religion and politcs do not mix. most of our laws that legislate morality are based not on preserving the peace,our rights, or our freedom and liberty. Their intent has always been to dictate how others live and to impose religious beliefs through the rule of law. We need a law that outlaws the legislation of morality and any laws wich deprive people of their freedom to choose how they live. We need freedom of religion and freedom from religion.
If we want freedom and liberty to be more than just words then government and religion must truly and unconditionally become separate.

In reading the article, I enjoy the framing of, “the day before Valentine’s day,” not February 13th.

Both Condit and Clinton tried to cover up indescretions, but Spitzer is honest. Leave the poor bastard alone. Those who live in glass houses shouldn’t drag others’ skeletons out of the closet.
Know thy enemies, for if you wanna play, ya may have to pay. It can be hard to keep it straight in the cut throat world of politics. Judgement often becomes blurred when you are overpaid and treated like royalty by the very people who are fattening you up for the kill. When one miappropriates tax-payer dollars as standard, all the while collecting fat retirements via lobbyist kick-backs, judgement becomes relative.
I’m curious. Isn’t hiring a prostitute illegal? If it is then Mr. Spitzer has broken the law and if that is the case I think he is overdue for a resignation.
Just heard about this this morning, and I directly think of how big the blessing of Allaah will be given to the faithful persons is, that He will give free holy and unimaginedly nice-to-see woman in the paradise for eternally. If you calculate that with money,, it is infinte amount. The requirement is just keep being on the side of almighty Allaah until the day we leave this life. And after that, free holy woman, free luxurious real-estate, and free top quality dining will be yours for an everlasting life.

The last thing we should worry about is if some one is completely moral or not.
Maybe in his belief system this type of actions is ok or justified.
Maybe with all of the stress of office his marriage is failing. Maybe with his own personal life we should bud out and worry about the real problems.
The worry is that all of these moralistic pompous wind bags who all ready been in office to long are taking situations like this to take the concentration of the general public away from the real issues of this country.
Items like Medical costs, Taxes, the ever glooming trade deals that are taking American jobs over seas.

I think this is disgusting and horrible that religion and government is combined into one absolute civil rights violation: Separation from church and state was part of our reason to create our country was it not?

Before you cry for Elliot, realize that he ran on a promise to bring ethics reform to New York. Additionally, the current Atty General Cuomo, found that aides to the Governor improperly pressed state police to compile records on (his chief critic in the state senate) use of state aircraft and planned to use that information for media articles critical of the senator.
This guy has been reading his own press for way to long. He prosecuted at least two prostitution rings as head of the state’s organized crime task force! . What a hypocrite!!

I work a month and a half for the amount he paid for sex, a couple hours, will anyway I guess it is easy to spend taxpayers dollars, you know travel pay they get.
