what is for dinner?

I can’t decide if I should make pizza or black bean cakes over rice topped with a Mexican slaw.

Black bean cakes over rice topped with a Mexican slaw and shipped to my house via one of those hyper-super-fast services that cater to celebrities and other well-heeled folks would be much appreciated, Michael. (And don’t forget that two-hour time lag between Pacific and Central Time! You can do it!)

Sorry Sheila, the pizza dough is rising as I type this.

Oh, that’s okay, Michael. I bet your pizza is almost as good as your black bean cakes. Just set up an account with Network Courier, ship me the pizza, and I’ll handle it from this end. Truly, I will.

What toppings would you like…I’ve got a jar of roasted red peppers, some artichoke hearts…olives…zucchini…mushrooms…red bell peppers…

Let me know I I’ll fire you one in the oven…only, I’m not responsible if it gets consumed before the Courier arrives.

Also, I think the courier web-page you linked is being delivered to my computer via bike messenger.

    Black olives, please.

At the turn of the millennium one of the foodie magazines featured a series of great panels by the great Roz Chast devoted to Food Trends of the Future. I think that the last one pictured the prediction that “you will be able to download pizzas from the Internet”.

I can’t wait to download pizza.
