What I Learned

I learned many interesting facts from the Maid-Rite Corporation’s official website. Here are ten interesting facts that I learned from the website.

(1) “[Maid-Rite's] familiar red and white octagon logo has graced the landscape of the Midwest for seven decades.”

(2) A Maid-Rite sandwich is “Too Good to Be a Patty”.
(3) Penelope Swan of Richmond, Missouri swears that “Maid-Rites taste so good we’ll drive 40 miles just to get one!” (I did not check to see what towns are 40 miles from Richmond, Missouri.)
(4) Maid-Rite is “America’s #1 Favorite Made to Order Loose Meat Sandwich”.
(5) Fred Angell, creator of the Maid-Rite loose meat sandwich, was “a respected butcher in Muscatine, Iowa”.
(6) The most important “ingredients” that Maid-Rite franchise owners need to possess are “the desire to become successful and the belief in one’s self, plus the ability to extend friendly hospitality to others and a positive outlook on life”.
(7) The Maid-Rite Maiden says: “Your health is important to us, so we exclusively use all natural oil.”
(8) “When you sit around a Maid-Rite counter, enjoying one of our delicious sandwiches that are so satisfying, you are always among friends!”
(9) Pete and Helen Brandon of Grosse Pointe, Michigan insist that they “don’t consider [them]selves to be officially back home in Iowa until [they] have eaten a Maid-Rite”.
10) April 2008 will see the opening of the “Gladstone” Maid-Rite at 7121 North Prospect Avenue, Kansas City, Missouri.

There was a Maid-Rite across the street from where I went to college. Everyone called it the ‘Drite.

I like that. The ‘Drite. As in dendrite. Not that that makes a lick of sense.

Cindy, grease is brain food (as a friend of a friend once memorably explained).

Your mistake was eating the thing in your car.
