Dear clusterflock

What should be in the clusterflocksockpuppet video?

I’ve warned the Scottish Falsetto Sock Puppets that we’d like to commission a video and help sponsor them in their efforts to bring their show to The Fringe Festival. The Socks have responded:

You little beauties. We’ll pull out the stops for you!

Love The Socks

I can scarcely contain my glee, people! This is a chance to be a modern Medici of the Sock Puppet arts, and we’ll most likely be the only blog that has a sock puppet PR video. Contribute funds or just your ideas.

We could basically let them do what they wanted, but give them a list of frequent topics at clusterflock.

    photography
    art
    squirrels
    clusterflockstock
    swearing at art museums
    drawing
    christopher walken
    etc.

Amy, that’s very like what I was going to suggest. I really think it’s much better not to feed them a script, simply to point them in a few directions. Pointers to “frequent topics” plus maybe a link to the question about “best posts ever” (and responses) — how about it?

  3. Deron Bauman on May 9th, 2008 at 1:45 pm

    I totally agree.

  4. Amy Mabli on May 9th, 2008 at 1:50 pm

OH no, not a script, I agree. And something more than just pointing them to the blog.

Oh, this is going to be great. Thank you, Amy!!!

How are we doing on contributions? I think if everyone realized how great this is going to be, they’d set their little PayPal fingers to work.

I wonder if it’s possible to misplace an apostrophe in a song….

  6. Deron Bauman on May 9th, 2008 at 1:52 pm

maybe the whole thing should be about sex with a donkey.

    I’m just brainstorming here.

  7. Cindy Scroggins on May 9th, 2008 at 1:54 pm

Let’s not forget the importance of poop. They’re socks, after all.

I don’t know what I mean by that.

    Are donkeys symmetrical?

  8. Deron Bauman on May 9th, 2008 at 1:58 pm

    you’re right. poop is important.

  9. Amy Mabli on May 9th, 2008 at 1:59 pm

Cindy, I’m so glad you agree. I know for me this is dream come true [cue cheesy music].

So far you, Sheila, Rick, Deron, and I have contributed.

I think it’s possible to convey to them how dangerous it is if we misplace an apostrophe when you’re around. Or how nice Deron looks in a dress. Or how many imaginary vampire films Sheila has been in, or how I’d actually enjoy it if the Socks made this into a pornographic video for me… ya know, just “getting to know you” type of stuff.

oh yes. Symmetrical Donkey sex. Metaphorically speaking of course. We like animals here at clusterflock.

  11. Cindy Scroggins on May 9th, 2008 at 2:06 pm

    Metaphorically speaking??

Oh. Yeah. I’ve just been talking about donkeys metaphorically all this time. I would never, you know, think of doing anything for real with a donkey. Not these days. Hoo-boy, nope, not me.

[...] by Amy’s reference to swearing at art museums (inspired by Cindy’s cussin’ at the Fort Worth Modern), [...]

Seeing as how they’re socks and all, I reckon full frontal shots of fingernail people couldn’t be featured in a “little strangers” sock-porn video, yeah, Amy?

  15. Amy Mabli on May 9th, 2008 at 3:28 pm

Not to get into specifics here, they can be clothed and just talk dirty to me. I think this started with my crush on Kermit the Frog as a young child.

Metaphorically speaking… since yes, we don’t want the authorities to think we’re really approaching stray donkeys with sexual requests. No matter how cute they are or how symmetrical their adorable facial features are.

Could they draw a picture for us? I’d like that.

  17. Rick Neece on May 9th, 2008 at 6:24 pm

    Maybe they could dance?

  18. Amy Mabli on May 11th, 2008 at 12:07 am

They can barely hold a pen with their mouths and they don’t have any legs, so drawing and dancing may present some challenges.

  19. Elizabeth Perry on May 11th, 2008 at 6:48 pm

Many of my own socks cannot even speak, let alone in falsetto - so I can imagine these puppets rising to most any challenge with their characteristic brilliance. But if they’d rather not draw or dance, I’d respect that.
