India! Oh, India! How about this?

. . . in the event you find yourself wandering aimlessly about London’s Docklands . . .

The aim of the Ports of Call project is to create walking trails, artwork and historical interpretation with members of the communities surrounding the Royal Docks in London.

The closure of the working docks, once the busiest in the world, and ongoing redevelopment has transformed the landscape and the population of communities such as Silvertown and North Woolwich.

By creating online maps, public art and historical audio trails with the involvement of residents it is hoped that locals and newcomers alike can discover new ways of interpreting their surroundings, and visitors can gain a deeper understanding of this fascinating part of East London.

Sure, if you’re at all like me, you won’t care to be wandering about like a zombie controlled by the audio tour you can download here. But maybe you could download and listen in anticipation of wandering.

    Hmmm.

Walk with a friend and leave valuables at home, in the same way that you would explore any other unfamiliar part of London.

No valuables, such as, for example, your MP3 player, on which you’re playing the audio guide?
