nipple hypocrisy
The outrage over nipplegate struck me as completely off-kilter, beyond the obvious ridiculousness. It was only recently I remembered why. There was a period in 2001 where Jennifer Lopez showed up to the Oscars and Shannon Elizabeth to the MTV Movie Awards essentially topless — both breasts exposed beneath sheer fabric. Janet Jackson’s five second nipple slip seems minor in comparison.

The defense rests.

I don’t understand what you’re talking about.
Please provide more evidence to support your assertion.
Hi-res is helpful.
Thank you.
Michael, how about some pudding?
MGS: While you’re waiting for those hi-res images, you could work on a craft project I’ll bet you already know about. All you need in an X-Acto knife and a Land o’ Lakes butter carton.
The thing about nipplegate is that nobody even saw it – people were too busy watching women parade around in their bras and panties during the Victoria’s Secret halftime show on another network…
Shit. The pudding’s gone and I melted all the butter again.
It is hypocrisy. Just look at jennifer lopezs video, the one with ben affleck in it. She is dancing around on some big stage wearing a shear shirt- NO BRA!
The MTV Music awards are broadcast through privately owned cables and are not regulated by the FCC. The Superbowl was broadcast over public air, which is regulated like any other public space. This is why cable news stations could air the superbowl nip-clip without censoring it, while other news stations could not.
You make excellent arguments with your other examples. Would it be better if all the ladies and stations were fined or would you prefer we allow topless women on public stations? If so, should women be permitted in other public places (like parks)?
