Peter Cook and Dudley Moore: The Art Gallery Sketch
From “Not Only . . . But Also”.
Inspired by Amy’s reference to swearing in art museums (inspired by Cindy’s cussin’ at the Fort Worth Modern), dedicated to my fellow Peter Cook devotee, Elizabeth, and presented in the hope of making y’all spit sandwich.

Sheila, you done ruint my mascara. But I thank you, anyway.
I thought you would like it, Cindy (although it might confuse a stupid person).
too funny!
“He’s done more ducks than you’ve had hot breakfasts” (and variations on this assertion) is a favorite with me and the friend who first showed me this, Cooper’s and my long-time friend Allen.
Thank you!
I think Pete and Dud are now following me around the internet. When I googled Vernon Ward (of the ducks), Cezanne’s Big Bathers (and their bottoms) came up near the top of the list.
Off to look for more remembered sketches from “Not Only… But Also.”
Nothing like a nice warm reptile house, Elizabeth.
(Is it their eyes or their bottoms — Pete’s and Dud’s, I mean — following you around the internets?)
I may have to post a Vernon Ward reproduction for those unfamiliar with the art or the artist..
“Cranin’ ’round the beak.”
Bottoms.
Cranin’ ’round their beaks, of course.
Be thankful, Elizabeth, it’s not the bloody Laughing Cavalier following you around.
Or his bottom.
Am also thankful that I read the bloody Laughing Cavalier comment during intermission at a community event, rather than during a quiet moment in the actual program.
Of course, you know, Elizabeth, there is something worse than the bloody Laughing Cavalier.
