Ugg
I just spent two and a half hours adding and configuring a wireless router to our network. The first hour and a half was clearing the cache of all the computers of the old network settings, then the final hour was realizing that if the wireless portion of the router was working, the ethernet portion was not. Seriously. I think what bugged me the most was imagining someone less technically adept than I (I consider myself an intermediate) trying to fuck with all this stuff. I knew enough to keep going and changing settings and finally figuring out how to get the router to be both an ethernet and wireless router. But fuck’s sake, people, two and a half hours! Seriously, should it have to be that hard?

No, it shouldn’t.
fuckballs.
May I ask what brand router? I had my Airport Extreme base station up and going in minutes.
Patrick, it was an airport extreme, but there were a lot of weird variables, a g5, an intel based mac mini, a switch, one machine with wireless, one without, and all the voodoo of the old internet in the ethernet lines.
