Venus Bogardus, Holy Ohle and Flying Sheep
So I did this interview with Venus Bogardus on my 5cense site. At one point James Reich (the guitarist/singer, and also a fine writer who will be in the very forthcoming Sleepingfish) turned the tables and asked me if I had read Blade Runner (by Burroughs). I said no, but I had read “Do Androids Dream of Flying Sheep.” A rather strange Freudian slip that I think can be explained by my recent viewing of Cai Guo-Qiang’s Head On, that features a line of flying wolves, something that when viewing induces a dream-like state. You wouldn’t be able to tell, but the wolves in the sculpture are actually made of sheep. And combined with my love of goats that some of you are well aware of, comes a balanced hatred of sheep that perhaps causes repressed thoughts. My disdain of sheep is matched only by my disdain of unicorns. Anyway, there’s other “lattice of coincidence” moments in the interview and talk of Ohle and Motorman and Utopia, Texas. Speaking of which, mark your calendars! He’s coming to Brooklyn on May 23 to Issue Project Room, w/ Brian Evenson.

Excellent interview, Derek (even without a goat).
