Orchard, Iowa (this photograph’s locale) is about 150 miles from where I live. We’ve had some horrific storms here near Galena (Illinois), but we seem to have enjoyed some magical protection from the tempests and floods raging outside a 100-degree radius from us.
Thanks Patrick. I saw a b&w version of this shot in the paper and told Cindy–That’s the most spectacular image of a tornado I have ever seen. It’s even better here. If seeing that coming at you didn’t cause your asshole to pucker nothing would.
Rick: I know what you mean. This one evokes a kind of thanatos–a sense that the end is so close one might just as well give up to it and be taken. A power so large as to be inspiring even as it brings a grainy apotheosis. (But I’m glad you were far away from it, my friend.)
jesus tits!

holy moley!
…would not want to be there.
My tornado dreams, while not scary, usually, when they come, have never been this pretty.
