The iPhone is everything they said it was and more. I must be honest, though. When I first got the iPhone I was a little disapointed at the fact that I could not send or receive multimedia messages and that the bluetooth capabilities were reserved to the use of the earpiece (not headphones nor data exchange). However, I enjoy a lot using the phone. The interface is very nice and user-friendly. It feels very nice to touch the screen and navigate the pages. It takes a couple of days to get used to the way it works, but once you get into it, you don't know how you survived without one before. I have used the maps application several times during trips and it has been very useful. I can't wait for it to have GPS, though. I'll get the newest version (hopefully at the same price or cheaper, if the rumors are true) and give my current model to my partner.

I wouldn't ever move to an iPhone knockoff when the iPhone itself is available. For some reason, everyone thinks it's smart to take on Apple on its own turf with a large-, touch-screen phone. Me, I think it's foolish, as you're ultimately paying tacit homage to the iPhone when it's all boiled away.

Find your niche and expound on it. Don't try to be something you're not. Didn't the horrid LG Voyager teach us anything, despite Verizon's inane vows that it would kill the iPhone?

Seems like you already had your answer about switching before you even made your post. How about a review of the 3G iPhone after you get it?

Or you could wait for this: http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2008/06/08/blackberry-thunder-live-shot-damn-were-good/

why are you appealing to my dickishness?

the iphone is the most remarkable piece of technology I can remember using. it works. it is beautiful. it is a computer that fits in your pocket. and it makes phone calls. oh, and it's magic.

I used to be in the same boat in that my old job had a BES and BB was the logical choice. Now that I don't need have a BES backend, I can do wha'evah I wan'. So the iPhone is looking mighty appealing to me.

And just you wait: the SOFTWARE that will be demoed on the iPhone will kick all sorts of ass. Remember, the iPhone is a platform for Apple, not just a device.

We've been looking at the iPhone for a while, and my wife will surely get one at the time of renewal. I currently use a BB 8100 and will probably keep using the Blackberry until there is some network support for the iPhone at work.

Right now the BB fits best because everything is automatically sync'd through our Enterprise server at work. If this could be done with an iPhone (with relative ease), I'd switch in a heartbeat.
