umbrellas
In Pittsburgh, some people emphasize the first syllable of umbrella. (These were in the entry to the greenhouse at the Frick Art and Historical Center on another rainy day.)

I love everything about this.
UM-be-rel-las!
Hmm. I married a man who says UM-brel-la, but I’ve always said um-BREL-la. He also says HO-tel – though that turns out to mean bar.
UM-be-rel-la: It may be a Chicago thing, or maybe a Mississippi Delta-to-Chicago thing. Once I was walking down State Street, oversized umbrella unfurled in the midst of a shower, when a man sidled underneath and said, “That’s a lot of UM-be-rel-la for such a little gal.”
When I was truly a little girl, I said, “Umberdella.”
Umberdella sounds like the name of a doll. Or a music hall star. Or a sock puppet.
Maybe in my next life I can be named Umberdella.
Umberdella de Vil.
HO-tel means bar? Impossible. A hotel is a place to sleep. A bar is a very large, furry animal with sharp claws.
A bartender is oftimes a zookeeper.
