The First Album Cover

In 1939 a 23 year-old Alex Steinwess, a designer for Columbia, wrangled them into creating the first true album cover (rather than generic sleeves):

triumph of bullshit has long been my favorite place to stop in and look ’round. I’m listening right now to what appears to be a Genesis/Phil Collins cover of “Love Will Tear Us Apart”. And they wonder why people kill themselves. Actually I don’t know if anyone is wondering that, anymore, what with gas prices in Houston hitting $3.83 some places.

The five songs of the day:
Magic Lantern - Mountains of Madness
    Joy Division - Shadowplay
Les Rallizes Denudes - Blind Baby Has Its Mothers Eyes
Sun 0))) - The Libations of Samhain
Angus McLise - The Invasion of Thunderbolt Pagoda

Damn, I’m not cool enough to know all of those bands.

But, seriously, ToB is an underrated blog, IMHO.
