a question.

Twice in the past 5 years, I have heard a voice whisper my name in my ear. This happened as I was in bed, waking up. I was awake so it wasn’t a dream. I’m pretty sure the voice was female, and no, I’m not schizophrenic. Anyone else ever experienced anything like this?

when I was three or four I saw a small plane fly through my bedroom window and the tiny / miniature pilots wave at me as they flew past.

Nope. But good on ye’. There’s a lot of wisdom to be found in the unexplained, regardless of the source.

I hear my mom call my name from time to time. It’s always always in that calm, “I want your attention” or “wake up” tone that she uses. It happens somewhat regularly, but I wouldn’t call it often either.

Yes. With a regularity that bothers me.

I think I just fell prey to your spam ninjas with a buncha wikipedia links, so I’ll do it again this way: the answer you’re looking for can be found there to a T, though it’d more correctly be termed a hypnopompic hallucination as it happens when you’re waking up rather than falling asleep.

For several years when I was a tyke I used to get the whispered name as well as more vivid and terrifying hallucinations. They came back in my early 20s, which I thought for sure meant I was cracking up, until I found out how relatively common they were. Now they’re sort of fun!

Maybe this is the origin of the thought some people have that god has spoken to them. You know–the miracle of “Get up, the fucking house is on fire!”

And on Saturday, the Schizophrenic Christmas Choir will sing “Do You Hear What I Hear?”
