To my mind, this question hinges on the definition of “fighting.” Some fights are worth putting a name on a ballot or a dollar in a plate. Some are worth your very life. And sometimes fighting means overcoming your most persuasive enemy, yourself.
I’ve given money to causes, and I’ve voted. I’ve never taken a punch to the jaw. But I’ve fought the most strenuous battles of my life with myself, and have emerged a better person for it.
I think we all want to do good, for ourselves and others. But how we go about it is the measure of our humanity.
I was also going to say that maybe a better question is “what is worth compromise”? I fight the fighting part comes relatively easy to people, the inevitable drive to compromise (at the heart of pluralistic, democratic societies) is WAAAAYYY harder.
I love this question. My answer is corny when I’d like to be eloquent, but it’s the only true answer for me:
Justice
Fairness
Protecting the weak from those who wish them harm

I have taken a punch to the jaw and it doesn’t mean much (but it does mean something!).
I am going to go with the wonderfully generic “truth.” Or, maybe better yet, people.
to blaaaave. which means to bluff.
Your right to party.
You can take my life but you’ll never take away my Freedom!!
A hill of beans.

A good cup of tea.
Loyalty to yourself.

I hate to be all obvious over here but, after last night, I’m inspired:
