I wish I’d known

A New Hampshire Vermont town has repealed an edict against fortune tellers on the books since 1966.

“When the ordinance was lifted, I actually felt a large weight lifting from my shoulders,” said Maria Pawlowski, a tarot card reader. “It was very oppressive to have to refrain from something that was as natural to me as breathing.”

I wonder if she saw it coming.

1966 — that is interesting. Not long ago I was talking with some people about similar laws dating back much earlier. Damn. Now I gotta go and research this.

Plus that’s in Vermont, very different from NH, my home state. Maybe you meant New England.

    Funny! Freedom of sooth saying.

Maybe what she meant about the feeling of “a weight lifting” was that she “felt” the vote as it took place, before it was announced and without being present. Fortune tellers always get out ahead of what they learn of the past. It’s kind of like McCain producing lower gas prices by talking about off-shore drilling. Guess he hasn’t started to work on hurricane prediction yet.
