As the resident likely Nader voter, I feel as though I should add something to this discussion, but I’m not sure what it is.

I’ll say this: I am officially not voting for Messrs. Obama and Biden (which is a recent development). I am, though, now considering Cynthia McKinney.

Agreed. Although I must admit that I would have never arrived at this level of eloquence. I’m more of a “reach-around” than an “end-around” writer I’m afraid.

Nader is a formula that leads back to Nader and only Nader. As soon as he had to do something other than just smear shit on others, he would become half of the do-what-you-have-to-do-to-hang-onto-power system. What he tries to sell is the idea that it’s possible to do an end-around on human nature–that as soon as we (that is, people who agree with him) see that We are in charge, it will be an obvious matter of who should be thrown out and what policies we need. This is the same old washing machine chugging away, appealing to people who dream of easy clarity and sudden might released upon the uncritically designated wrong doers.
