Sounds from the Loop
In which Mr. Simone comments on his recordings of sounds and happenings on the Delmar Loop. Here is the first in a when-I-have-interesting-sounds series (there is, thankfully, no dearth of material).

Andrew, this is really great. I love the idea and the actuality.
I have been thinking quite a bit about space and geography lately and how sounds and smells are such an integral part. We play so much with pictures and locality on the web, we can’t do smell, but why not sound?
I got super into the idea of field recordings as a way of monitoring decay around me, but I do not have any kind of reliable field recording kit. (I am limited by my computer’s need for an outlet, and my only having two hands, and the m-box 2 being awkward to hold.)
It’d be great to monitor sounds on a monthly and yearly basis in the same region as a way of preserving it historically and seeing what the changes are.
The iPhone is a great shoot-from-the-hip recorder, but I wish I had something more sophisticated to get a cleaner sound.
i have been away. WHAT HAPPENED to the leader of the Flock.? No posts from him in several days
Deron?
see here.
I’m back and unpacking.
good to see you back. Now post’s can heat up
What a great recording. Your busker (and harmonica associate) sound like they know what they’re doing.
Thanks, Mike. There is a TON of fantastic musicians and artist wandering the Loop. A typical night here on Delmar is not a typical night.
