I am always ready for a West Coast Gathering, and in fact, am saving my pennies for Clusterflockstock as well.

Sheila, simply say the word.

I feel as if the signs and symbols portend great things, smaller covens meet across this great nation, only to fortell the gathering that will be.

ok Rick, I had no idea what a Rusty Nail was....well, what it consisted of. So I have looked it up and I would like it...all the more reason to go...but I may have one of these here very soon...you know, just to experiment!

Damn Rick, your description of Marie’s Crisis is all I need...sounds wonderful! You are right though, nothing ever recreates that first time - when I get my ass to New York I'll be going here for sure

On my first trip to New Year, the gang of Saks took me to dinner, then to a loud, enormous club where everything Dancey was going on. House music, boys on the bar dancing in Calvin's, drag queens on stage pulling guys up from the dance-flo' and pulling their pants down onstage.

One co-worker, Roger, (god-rest-his-soul) pulled me aside, said, "I'll take you someplace you'll like."

Took me to Marie's Crisis in the village--as I recall Christopher St. stop, up the stairs, around the corner, down the stairs. (Now some of you wouldn't like it, show-tunes played on a spinet piano around which the bar is built.) As it happened, it was a Tuesday night, there were three "customers" in the bar, of which we were two. Roger said, "It's usually much busier." I said, "I don't care, I love it!" There was a waiter known as "the diva" who sang Ava Gardner's "Show Boat" songs in the original key, falsetto!" We plied the piano player with dollars to play our favorites. I bought Roger Rusty Nails on the company dime. I'll never forget it. I loved having the bar to "myself."

We've been back to visit, nothing approximates that first visit. We've been there on weekend nights when the place is crammed with show people, straight couples and gay-boys singing "The Sound of Music" at the top of our lungs, we've been there on quieter nights, but it is a must visit every time we go.

@Michael Smith: The West Coast gathering will most likely occur when Sheila decides that there is someone else in the area whom you ought to meet. When she spikes you, you will know that you've been spoken to.

We guessed it was empty because of the holidays. When I walked past on my way home, it looked like there was still nobody in there.
