Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or “guardian” (i.e., supervised by an adult).

The MPAA rating system had been in place for at least a year when Fellini Satyricon opened in Dallas, Texas, where theater managers were mighty keen on enforcement of the system’s strictures. No seventeen-year-old boy and his fifteen-year-old girlfriend were going to slip unchaperoned into the Inwood Theater to see Fellini Satyricon, no sir.

So he and I and his mom went to the movies together.

This would have made a hell of a ride at Disney World. Missed opportunity.

Can I just say the the movie ratings system should have absolutely no tangible effect in the real world, and it effing drives me nuts that it does in all the places that it does?

    Okay, thanks.

    Carry on…
