As it happened, they were in the Himalayan foothills when Mumbai was in the grip. It's an odd feeling to be relieved about the well-being of particular people while so many strangers suffer. I've been feeling happy and sick all at once. Daryl and I spent a couple of anxious days waiting to hear from our dear friends, Melinda and Jim, who are vacationing in India and planned to spend much of their time in Mumbai. As it happened, they were in the Himalayan foothills when Mumbai was in the grip.
