Andrew, this is splendid. You done made my day. More later, maybe, after I’ve watched this again!
The list of things detested! That will have me smiling for days.
The bit from Lolita sounds better in English. But maybe that’s just me. I have a tape of him reading substantial portions of the book (in English). He did great work with butterflies, which is another thing I like about him. And his autobiography, Speak, Memory, is splendid. Thank you drive through.
Time was when there was a night club atop the Allerton Hotel in Chicago, and it was called the Tip Top Tap. (Get it?) And until just a few years ago, though the ‘tap’ was defunct, the letters TIP-TOP-TAP remained atop the Allerton Hotel. And every time I saw them, I thought of the opening lines of Lolita.
Two quick things (I am smoking at a dinner party):
1. “thank you, drive through reminds me of a dear friend from college, Daryl. Thank you for that.
2. I have never read Lolita. I now, clearly, need to.
Oh, yes. Andrew, You must. As soon as you wake tomorrow.
