(Get it?) And until just a few years ago, though the 'tap' was defunct, the letters TIP-TOP-TAP remained atop the Allerton Hotel. And every time I saw them, I thought of the opening lines of <em>Lolita</em>. Time was when there was a night club atop the Allerton Hotel in Chicago, and it was called the Tip Top Tap. (Get it?) But maybe that's just me. I have a tape of him reading substantial portions of the book (in English). He did great work with butterflies, which is another thing I like about him.
