1 second ads

I was going to blog about Miller’s one second Super Bowl ads with even a link to the site where you can see the ads but when you get there the first thing they make you do is declare your age so fuck it.

    If the site didn’t have the age checking then kids, CHILDREN, could see things like pictures and videos of beer. The idea of the 1 second commercial is great but the execution is OMG horrible.

    Stupid Puritans still exerting their influences on us. Don’t people know that having a few beers ain’t drinkin’?

    it’s probably…

    a) just me;
    b) a matter of geography (Lone Star Beer still big down there?);
    c) just me…

    but who pays any attention to beer ads any more? we’ve a local brewery (Boulevard) that just put out an Imperial Stout series that hits 11% alcohol while actually tasting like a great stout.

    (yes, i do have 2 cases cooling in my root cellar.)

    more generally, who pays any attention to the super bowl ads any more?
    going back 5-7 years it was admittedly “post-modern ironic” to “watch” the super bowl only for the ads, but is that still the case?

    in fact, is there any reason –given that the preponderance of matchups historically turn out to be duds – other than “tradition” to watch the super bowl?

    It’s tradition where I am. The folks throwing the Superbowl party here in The Lou aren’t even football fans (but it’s hard to be when the local team is the Rams).
