Oh we love Barton Fink too. I particularly like the part played by John Goodman. And the wallpaper peeling in the heat fits right in with my usual way of having nightmares.
John Goodman has done some interesting shit, remarkably. Yes I’d love to see that movie again. It fucked me for about a month when I saw it first, haven’t seen it since.
I think I’ve only seen it once also, Danny and I at the theater. As I recall, I vaguely remember liking it. Danny not so much. But upon hearing our list last weekend, Danny’s friend Susan in Des Moines said, “Oh, Danny, give it another try.”
John Goodman, in Lebowski reminds me of my brother. Not that my brother was anywhere close to Nam, just that he owns his own knowledges insistantly. (vague, nearly exact, paraphrase of Brodkey)
I love the way the dreams of all characters in this film are rendered oblique by major unexamined flaws. Every person, proceeding toward an aim, must glance over a shoulder at what he or she always knew must be there: the hard truth; the fetch; the winning lotto ticket–lost.
Chet?

Good to learn! Folks hardly ever mention it. I’m forever dropping lines from the film, and I can just tell that most times people aren’t picking up.
John Goodman is really at his best in it, I’m thinking.

I seriously doubt it.
nope, but it is one of the ones I only did once because I didn’t want to ruin the experience.

John Mahoney!
“Rasslin’ scenarios and other things literary.”
