chair, snow

This is my backyard in Pittsburgh today, summer’s furniture half-covered in snow, trees without leaves, and yet a landscape expectant: full of hope and possibility. The daylight hours are lengthening.

Oh I love this. It’s splendid the way the bent pipe base is almost lost in the snow, making the chair seem tentative but ready to try again. It has a mind of winter (as WS might say).
It looks deliciously like a sort of beetle. But the instant I read chair, snow, I thought, One of those place-holding chairs beloved of Pittsburghers and Chicagoans? Nope. Wrong again.
But I like it. A lot.
It’s one of those metal chairs with a sort of loop stand and little decorative indentations in the seat and back, yes? Lovely, as always.
Thank you. This is one of the chairs with a loop stand (now covered by snow), which gives a gentle spring to it when you sit down. It was the armchair in my first several apartments after college. A good place to read, though perhaps not today…
