“Gimme Some Truth” is one of my (ex-Beatle) Lennon faves. (“Imagine’ triggers my gag reflex. Sorry, folks. [Hehehe, as Renner might say.])
Now as for (Beatle) George, I’ve always fancied “If I Needed Someone”.
“Carve your number on your wall/And maybe you will get a call from me/If I needed someone.”
Hard to beat George’s “My Sweet Lord.” Speaking of which, have you seen The Concert for George memorial concert that Clapton and George’s son put together after George’s death? It’s amazing.
Yes, Brandon. Saw it in company with maybe a dozen people. Come the credits, one of the guys among us said, “Man, that almost had me crying.”
“We are crying!” cried I and another of the women.
Ringo singing “Photograph”, which he and George wrote together, made me cry.
As I recall, Clapton performed “If I Needed Someone”.
Comic relief: It was at the gathering where we watched the concert DVD that another of my friends observed, “Tom Petty is really starting to look like Klaus Kinski.”
I’ll stop after this, I promise, but I just had to say that I’ve always liked Lennon’s “I Found Out”. But then I had such high hopes for the Plastic Ono Band.
Bet you didn’t, did you, Foxy (Renner)?
