    Well, in 1926, I’m guessing there were more cads than condoms about. A girl had to look out for herself. It’s the “social hygiene” bit that I find, well, evocative.

    As an exercise, I began by listing the middle names of the men I have associated with, and their current occupations. I have omitted them in the interest of discretion. That I could do so for each of them is reassuring, but the length of the list is something I prefer to keep to myself.
