Do “The German”!

The German, or as it is and has been for years known in Europe–the Cotillion, has been for some time past the dancing amusement, par excellence, of American society.
Unlike most other dances, the German depends very largely for its success upon the tact and knowledge of its leader. Many who are competent by reason of their experience to enact the part of leader of the German are really disqualified by an absence of tact and good judgment which is fatal to that common spirit of enjoyment which alone makes the German or any other dance a fitting amusement for ladies and gentlemen.
