just saw the ahmed baba museum, i was really excited about seeing it, but not much to see that was on display. Met the librarian and they let me browse around but you kind of have to know what you are looking for. The architecture of the new Ahmed Baba institute is stunning, there’s a picture of it at the end of my dispatch. later this year all the manuscripts from the old institute and private collections around Timbuktu will be consolidated into the new institute and then it will probably be really incredible to visit….
